TOM HOFBAUER is a writer/director /producer, independent filmmaker and the founder of The Around the Bend Players. He spent nine years on the stand-up comedy circuit, traveling to over 300 clubs in 30 states. He also performed improv with The Improvables and with Those Guys From Toledo. He spent four years in Los Angeles pursuing an acting and writing career. He and fellow Around the Bend Player Mark Zink wrote, produced, and directed an independent sketch comedy show called Around the Bend (check the CLIPS link for videos from this show). Tom has also done a great deal of stage work and appeared on television as a wrestling referee in an episode of Saved By The Bell: The College Years.In 2001 he wrote, produced and directed the independent film In the Company of Strangers. This film, which utilized the talents of all of The Around the Bend Players, has screened in numerous film festivals across the country and was awarded the FESTIVAL DIRECTOR'S CHOICE AWARD at the Trail Dance Film Festival in Duncan, OK in January of 2009, DIRECTOR'S CHOICE - GOLD MEDAL FOR EXCELLENCE in the Park City Film Music Festival, DRAMATIC FEATURE in the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, and was chosen as a FEATURE FILM WINNER in the Key West IndieFest and the Telluride IndieFest. His second film is a documentary he produced with Cleveland filmmaker Deborah Halinski called ADDICT.He also worked as a camera operator and provided location production expertise in the Academy Award-nominated documentary film Twist of Faith. This film was produced by Eddie Schmidt and directed by Kirby Dick. |
